One of the greatest films of all time and a personal favorite is Forrest Gump. If you haven’t watched it you MUST! The story epitomises everything you need to know about personal endurance and true fulfilment.
If you have seen the film, you will remember that famous scene when Forrest is attempting to run away from bullies. He runs as fast as he can but is restricted because of the leg braces he’s been made to wear since he was old enough to walk. In that defining moment Forrest’s sheer determination to escape a severe beating causes them to break and fall off. Not only was he then able to outrun the bullies but in later years he became a famous cross country runner inspiring thousands to follow suit.
The reason I share this with you is because no doubt you have at some point been told you couldn’t do something. Whether that be as a child or in recent days and years.
We’ve all been there
It could be others who have made you feel inferior. Or maybe even your own “inner critic” telling you “it’s just not possible”. After a while we tend to accept these perceived limitations as being our destiny.
Forrest Gump is a perfect example of someone who experienced so much disappointment. Born with a crooked spine and told he would never be able to run – he defeated all the odds. Forrest also exceeded everyone’s expectations. Despite all the heartache experienced with the love of his life, losing a close friend in the Army and his mother dying, he was someone who excelled at everything he turned his attention to. He became a multi millionaire because of it. His child-like innocence and unconditional kindness made people snigger and underestimate him but who do you think got the last laugh?
There are countless of success stories just like that.
So my question for you today is – where in your life do you need to burst out of those “leg braces”? What is preventing you from doing something you were naturally gifted and born to do?
No matter your circumstances, I guarantee that there is a tidal wave of passion and power within you. It will support any dream you have. All you need to do is run at it with open arms and the rest will take care of itself. Just like it did for Forrest multiple times over.
Sending you lots of love and light,
